Enjoy a day of country, gospel, and variety music Saturday, July 19th at the air-conditioned Elk Point Jefferson School Middle School Gym, 402 S. Douglas, from 11 am – 9:00 p.m. Featured artists will be nationally renowned Nashville Singer/Songwriter Terry S. Smith who is famous for Johnny Cash’s recording of “Far Side Banks of Jordan”.  He is also the National Traditional Country Music Association Songwriter of the Year in 1995 and 1996. A Songwriter with a Different Touch” is a superior performer whose music has been recorder by Johnny and June Carter Cash, Roy Acuff, The Oak Ridge Boys, Kitty Wells, Chris Le Dous, The Statler Brothers, Kris Kristofferson, Patty Loveless and others. Terry has recently released his 10th CD entitled “Plain Old, Everday, Ordinary Stuff”. He is a favorite at festivals wherever he goes. His web site is www.terrysmith.us.  He will be backed up by Rick and Harriette Andersen of Underwood, Iowa.  They have been back up duo for international, national and local fiddlers, singers and instrumentalists for 15 years and have attended the Old Time Fiddlers Contest in Yankton held in September for many years. 

Another featured Artist, Clarence Hayden of Richmond MO, is a Nashville Singer/Songwriter and has several CDs out as well as performs on the country music stages in Missouri.  He appears on the RFD Show in Sandstone MN regularly as does Terry Smith.  You will be entertained by Clarence’s country and gospel music and classic country voice.  Also on the schedule is local singer entertainer Elaine Peacock of Elk Point, who is a recording artist and has released 5 CDs since 2003. She sings and entertains regularly in the Midwest performing gospel, Patsy Cline, Christmas and Patriotic music and songs from the decades often accompanied by Wanda Jilderda of Elk Point.  She is also a square dance caller.  You will enjoy SD Award winning Fiddler, Wilbur Foss from Scotland SD, who hosts the Old Time Fiddler Contest Weekend at Yankton, SD.  Singing Farmer Erv Pickhinke, known as “The Singing Farmer”, is a fantastic singer from Sioux City, IA. You won’t want to miss his “The John Deere Tractor Song”.  Laurie Larson of Bloomfield, NE with the Outback Band from Lynch, NE  performs in NE Nebraska and South Dakota; Wayne Longtin, Sr., from Litchfield, MN, performs many country classics, as well as his original work which you will love.  Monica Harvey “Lil Sis” from Stapleton NE will do a special veteran tribute. Monona Country Band from Onawa, IA will delight you; and, The Kooi Family from Inwood IA will surprise you…they are a quartet of young siblings with excellent harmony.  The Scandinavian Dancers may make an appearance along with local talent; and Walt Petersen, Richard Petersen, Bob Sweeney, Jacob Sample and Rich Rosenbaum.   The Music Illusions with Tom and Patty Mullally of LeMars, IA, sing a wide variety of music including patriotic, country, and “Elvis” songs.

There will be an a Circle Jam for any musician/singer, as well as an afternoon lunch, bake sale; and, Chicken dinner for sale at suppertime.
